Local Jams & Festivals

Grottoes Jam
Every Thursday 7PM - 10PM
Located in and old theater, this is a great place to go pick with a full range of talented musicians. I've never found a more friendly and open place to go pick. This jam is definitely friendly towards novices, and Leon Irving, who heads up the jam, does a great job of making sure everyone gets a chance to take a break. The last Thursday of each month, a featured band entertains the crowd from 7-8PM, and then is followed by jamming. Otherwise, it's nonstop jamming from 7PM - 10PM every Thursday night. Directions

Cross Keys Jam
Every Wednesday 7PM - 9PM
This jam affords an opportunity for beginners to work on their group picking skills from 7PM - 8PM. Then from 8PM - 9PM, the more experienced pickers are invited to join in. I believe Brian Bridges heads up this weekly jam at a church between Harrisonburg and Port Republic. Directions.
